Last month, Church Hill Big Local delivered a number of fledgeling sunflower plants to Abbeywood and Moon’s Moat First Schools. We challenged them to see if they could look after the plants and to see how tall they could make them grow before we returned at the end of term to witness how they had got on.
We visited both schools last week and were very impressed with their efforts, particularly given the very hot weather we have had. The soaring temperatures have not helped with plant growth and led to lots of watering being carried out by the young budding gardeners.
For their efforts, each school was rewarded with £50 of gardening vouchers to help their respective gardening clubs with their future green fingered projects.
